The Breakfast Trifecta! Oats, Eggs, and Fruit

Need a go to breakfast? Oatmeal, Omelet and Fruit- I eat this almost every day!

The raw ingredients

Here is how you prepare it-

Cinnamon Oatmeal

1 cup water
1/2 cup oats
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Bring water to boil. Stir in oats. Cook about 2 minutes and stir in cinnamon. Cook another 3 minutes over medium heat or until thickened.

Don't forget to stir occasionally. Pour into bowl and enjoy!

1 Egg + 2 Egg White Omelet w/ Spinach and Cheese

1 egg
2 egg whites
1 cup spinach
.5 ounces of cheese
pepper
olive oil Spray

Mix egg and whites. Heat pan and spray lightly with olive oil.  Sautee spinach over medium heat until wilted. Pour in egg mix. Cook until mostly firm; slightly runny on top.

Flip. Add cheese and fold together. Slide from pan to plate and partake.

Berries

1 cup berries (or fruit) of your choice

My berries of choice lately are blueberries and blackberries. (They've been on sale!) I add those right into the oatmeal. Delish! When I eat raspberries of strawberries I eat them as a side. Berries are great because they are packed with vitamins, calcium, potassium, and antioxidants. You name it- they bring it to the table.

Breakfast- Bon appetite!
Water

2 cups of water

Bob Harper is to blame for this. I read his new book The Skinny Rules: The Simple, Nonnegotiable Principles for Getting to ThinIt says to drink water right away when you get up and 15 minutes before every meal. I tried it and wouldn't you know it worked. I feel great, stay hydrated, and can usually get away eating less than on an empty stomach. Milk occasionally makes its way to the breakfast table, but lately it has been water. (**Nothing is wrong with milk. I LOVE MILK! I have just been drinking milk following my exercise lately. Thanks Carla!)

This breakfast has plenty of protein, whole-grain carbohydrates, potassium, calcium, and sugar-from fruit. I find it a terrific way to jump start my day. I hope you do as well.

BONUS- It comes in at only 380 calories!!
